This 101-style session has been created for professionals who would like to learn more about drop structures including why we build them, how they function, and what to look for in the field if one is potentially failing.
Jeff Fisher (Senior Construction Manager), Laura Hinds (Senior Project Manager), and David Skuodas (Education and Outreach Director) from the Mile High Flood District will share lessons learned in designing, building, maintaining, fixing, and replacing drop structures.
After an in-office session including lots of photographs and examples, we’ll head into the field to inspect a drop structure on Van Bibber Creek in Arvada that is starting to fail.
A casual happy hour at a nearby brewery will conclude the day.
