Join us June 29 – July 1 at the Mile High Flood District headquarters for an intensive, hands-on HEC-RAS 1D training led by Erik McCarthy, PE, CFM of WEST Consultants.

This three-day workshop is designed for engineers and water resources professionals looking to build practical, real-world experience with HEC-RAS steady flow modeling and RAS Mapper. Whether you are new to the software or looking to strengthen your hydraulic modeling fundamentals, this course will provide the tools and confidence needed to apply HEC-RAS in professional practice.

• Theoretical basis of HEC-RAS
• Modeling bridge hydraulics
• Modeling culvert hydraulics
• Modeling multiple openings
• Basic and advanced RAS Mapper for 1D modeling

• Learn how to use HEC-RAS software for 1D steady flow modeling and the RAS Mapper GIS interface
• Receive a comprehensive review of hydraulic principles for rivers and culverts
• Understand and apply steady-state hydraulic modeling principles for confluences and crossings
• Gain valuable hands-on workshop experience applicable to real flood control and drainage projects
• Develop insights into model development and floodway optimization for FEMA flood insurance studies
About the instructor:

Erik McCarthy, PE, CFM is a project manager and hydraulic engineer with 14 years of experience and extensive expertise in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, and HEC-RTS. Erik has been teaching HEC-RAS courses since 2016 and brings a highly practical, application-focused approach to instruction.
